  • review rating 4  Lovely house, simply furnished but fully equipped. Beautiful location, lovely private beach, close to a village (guided tour worthwhile), lazing in hammocks and the sea at the door, nice temperature all year round. Next to restaurants (run by Dutch) has a great menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Highly recommended

  • review rating 5  Such a lovely place to be Great house with everything you need inside The beach is so beautiful and the people around are so friendly and honest. The kids just love it making campfires catching fish in the night (with a torchlight pointed on the sea, fish are jumping out), sea in front and a lagoon at the back they are enjoying all day discovering nature

  • review rating 4  We had a wonderful time at the beach-house! We really enjoyed the garden; our own beach- front, under the palm trees. Relaxing in the Hammock or beach-chair, after a swim. The weather was not too warm and the children loved to play in the sand, sea or just around the house. We also enjoyed a walk to the nearby village for some basic shopping and to watch the fisherman returning with their catch-of- the-day. Dinner recommended at KO-SA, on a walking distance over the beach. Thanks a lot for everything! Marjolein & Divine

  • review rating 5  A fantastic location to spend the Nieuwjaarsduik 2019! We have been well taken care off by the “concierge” at Ayikoo Beachhouse. We wanted to have a BBQ and asked Immanuelle to pick up fish from the village! He returned with a beautiful fish that he helped to clean and BBQ. The next day we were keen to have lobster for dinner. Again Immanuelle picked up a bucket of lobster that we cooked for dinner the next day! Walking distance for food and/or drinks at KoSa Beach and Charlestina beach resort. We enjoyed a great New Year’s Eve in Ampenyi!

The Beach house is near Cape Coast, the canopy bridges in Kakum national park, as well as the British and Dutch colonial castles along the coast, keeping the memory of the tragic slave trade alive.

Our tips

Ghana has a wide variety of fresh fruit. There are many fruitstalls at Ayensudo junction selling mango, watermelon, pineapple etc (just a 5 min. drive from the house). Fresh coconuts are in our garden.
You can create you own smoothie (the kitchen is equipped with a blender)
-
Fishermen sell their catch of the day right on the beach. So... do a seafood barbecue!
You can find utensils and a bbq in the kitchen. Charcoal is easily available in the village.
-
The garden has its own fireplace. Enjoy a good old bonfire with a glass of wine, the stars, the moon and the sound of waves in the background.
Bring some marshmellows along to roast, if you have kids.
-
Ampenyi village tour - The 'be-the-change' foundation tries to improve lifes of those in the Ampenyi community (where the Ayikoo beach house is located). The initiator - California - is happy to give you a feel of traditional Ghanaian way of life in the fishing community of Ampenyi. He can also organise a lagoon tour or even an excursion at sea.
